Traver Gruen-Kennedy

Traver Gruen-Kennedy is Chief Strategist and Vice President, Strategy at Citrix Systems, Inc., an S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 company. Considered by many to be the "Father of the ASP Industry," Mr. Gruen-Kennedy served two terms as the Chairman of the ASP Industry Consortium, an international advocacy group formed by 500 leading technology companies in 30 countries to champion and set worldwide standards for the ASP industry. In 2000, along with Arif Hyder Ali (see profile below), Mr. Gruen-Kennedy founded the ASP Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center created by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a department of the United Nations, in cooperation with the ASP Industry Consortium. Now, through a new global legal and audit infrastructure, ASPs and e-commerce communities are able to provide their customers with services through a single contract recognized in 175 countries, enabling businesses everywhere to participate on an equal contract enforcement basis.

H.E. Farooq Sobhan

Ambassador Sobhan, former Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh (1995 to 1997), had a distinguished career in the Bangladesh diplomatic service from 1964 to 1997. His illustrious career included postings in Cairo, Paris, Belgrade, Moscow, New York, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing and New Delhi. In addition, Ambassador Sobhan served with distinction as a member and leader of several Bangladesh delegations to the United Nations, and has been an Honorary Chairman of several United Nations Commissions. Currently, Ambassador Sobhan is the Chairman of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board of Bangladesh and President of the Bangladesh Enterprise Institute which was established in October 2000. He has also written extensively on international economic issues.

Arif Hyder Ali

Arif Hyder Ali

Arif Hyder Ali, Esq., specializes in the areas of international commercial arbitration and dispute avoidance and resolution relating to the Internet economy. Mr. Ali has practiced with international law firms in Washington, D.C. (1990 to 1993) and Paris, France (1997 to 1999). He has also held senior appointments at the UN Security Council’s Compensation Commission (1993 to 1996) and at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) (1999 to 2001). At WIPO, Mr. Ali was responsible for designing dispute avoidance and resolution systems, advising public and private sector entities on conflict management and resolution relating to the Internet and intellectual property, and developing policies and procedural rules for resolving domain name disputes (e.g., the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy and the .Biz Dispute Resolution Policies). Through the ASP Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center at WIPO, one of his most notable accomplishments was the development of a set of global dispute avoidance and resolution best practices for the ASP Industry Consortium.

Kathryn Sheldon-Hammler is President and CEO of Access Markets Worldwide, a leading consulting firm that provides executive marketing and sales services to companies with the vision and products to transform markets. Access Markets Worldwide creates measurable opportunities for these firms in key vertical markets such as the U.S. Federal, State & Local Governments; International governments; non-profits, and other distinct commercial sectors. Identified as an early leader in the web services industry, Ms. Sheldon-Hammler served as an officer on the Board of the ASP Industry Consortium (ASPIC) as the Vice Chair of the Americas. She was also the only industry executive to also serve concurrently on the ASP board of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA). Currently, she is an active member of the Board of the Digital Development Partnership (DDP). The mission of the Digital Development Partnership is to optimize the social and economic impact of information and communications technology initiatives for underserved communities by enabling global access to affordable application service provider (ASP) computing capabilities.

Prior to founding Access Markets Worldwide, Ms. Sheldon-Hammler served important roles at worldwide technology companies including VeriSign, Interliant, Alcatel, Newbridge Networks, and Federal Sources. She was an advisor to Federal government Chief Information Officers (CIOs) at International Data Corporation (IDC Government), based in Washington, D.C. She has published dozens of papers on emerging technologies and is a frequent speaker at worldwide industry events.

Ms. Sheldon-Hammler received her B.A. from Brown University and her M.B.A. in Information Systems Management from The George Washington University (Beta Gamma Sigma). She served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. As an active local community volunteer, she has served on the Board of the Loudoun Convention and Visitors’ Association (LCVA), and organized and led her daughter’s Daisy Girl Scout Troop. Currently, she is an appointed member of the Leesburg (Virginia) Economic Development Commission.
