This diagnostic of Mali’s digital economy is part of the WBG’s Digital Economy for Africa (DE4A) initiative, stemming from the WBG’s recognition that the digital economy can help accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the World Bank Group’s (WBG’s) twin goals. Through the DE4A, which supports the operationalization of the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa (2020¬2030), the WBG has been committed to undertaking country-level digital economy diagnostics across the continent in order to take stock of challenges and opportunities across the five foundational pillars of the digital economy and then propose specific, actionable, and prioritized recommendations to support countries to develop vibrant, safe, and inclusive digital economies.
